Franklin Society event returns to campus after two years of probation with help of Sachsens

Whittier College students dressed in their costumes to attend a new hit event hosted by the Franklin and Sachsen societies, Fracsenstein which took place on Friday, Oct. 23 at the Manhattan Lounge in Uptown Whittier, had over 300 guests in attendance. People either walked or took the shuttle bus, which provided service from Philadelphia House to the venue. "Years ago, the Franklin Society hosted 'Franklinstein,' which was pretty much a Halloween party," Sachsen Society President senior Whitney Cane said. This year they joined together with the Sachsen Society to put a twist on an old event. "Once the Franklins were suspended, they were no longer able to do the event. Now that the Franklins are back, they decided it was time to bring their old event back and approached the Sachsen Society about creating 'Fracsenstein,' a joint endeavor," Cane said.
"The society, after coming back on campus, was still getting everything together and did not have the resources to finally do it until this year," Franklin Society member junior Ryan McPherson said.
The venue had two dance floors, which some thoroughly enjoyed. "I had so much fun. I liked the two rooms, and the music was great. I liked that they played techno and not just Top 40 stuff, even though I like that, too," first-year Diana Leroy said. "The DJs played music I don't hear often when I go out," Leroy continued.
Others said having more than one dance floor was pointless because one of them was full of people that did not fit, while the other was bigger and empty. "The dance floors were too small. Why have two small ones when you can have one big one," sophomore Kyle Lam said.
Despite this, one could see a line of people waiting to get in that stretched to the street. Decorations like glow in the dark webs, spiders and other décor hung above each of the dance floors, giving the hall a spooky atmosphere. "It was a perfect night to just hang and dance with friends while meeting new people and setting the mood for an epic Halloween," first-year Claire Morlock said.
